How to Uninstall FontExplorer X Pro

If the 30-day trial period is over and you’re no longer interested in using FontExplorer X Pro, you can remove it completely by following the steps outlined below:

  1. Remove all the plug-ins installed by FontExplorer X Pro. To do this, go to the “Tools” menu in FontExplorer X Pro and select Plug-In Manager.
  2. Click on the “Remove” button just beside each installed Plug-In.
  3. Locate your font folder* and drag or copy the content to your preferred new storage location. You can locate this folder under the Help Menu of FontExplorer X Pro.
    *To help you easily locate your font folder, you can check the instructions under “Where are the Font Files Stored?”, which is in Chapter 5 of your FontExplorer X Pro Help manual.
  4. Next, go to Macintosh HD in the Finder, and click on the ‘Users’ folder.
    This contains another folder with the same name as your login name. This is your home folder.

    • [user]/Library/Preferences/com.linotype.FontExplorerX.plist
    • [user]/Library/Application Support/Linotype/FontExplorerX
    • [user/Library/Caches/Metadata/FontExplorer X/
    • [user]/Library/Spotlight/FontMDI.mdimporter
      Note that you need to repeat the process in step 4 above if more than one person shares the same Mac machine to work with Font Explorer X Pro.This is because the FontExplorer X Pro files will be downloaded on both user accounts.
  5. Go to the application folder, drag and drop the FontExplorer X Pro application file into the trash. Alternatively, you can select it and press Command + delete. This will completely remove the app from your system.
