PureVPN Review 2024: Before You Buy, Is It Worth It?

PureVPN Overview

After facing criticism for cooperating with the FBI, PureVPN has been striving to repair its image for a few years. I conducted comprehensive tests to assess the improvement of PureVPN’s privacy policy, app reliability, and overall performance to verify whether there have been actual changes.

My tests confirmed that PureVPN has made significant progress in terms of data security and server networks. The VPN’s independent audit is reassuring, and although some data is logged, it’s not identifiable. Therefore, I’m confident that PureVPN keeps my online activities anonymous.

PureVPN’s money-back guarantee lets you test its features risk-free — you can get a refund within 31 days if you’re not satisfied with the VPN’s privacy policy or its service.

PureVPN Unblocks Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, BBC iPlayer, and HBO Max

PureVPN impressed me with its ability to unblock every streaming site I tested. I could even unblock Netflix US, which is notoriously difficult to access from abroad — even with a US subscription. This is a huge deal if you travel often and want to keep up with your local content despite regional blocks.

While I did have some longer load times than I would without a VPN, I could still watch my favorite shows in UHD. After a few seconds of buffering, I could start streaming without lag or interruptions.

Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, HBO Max: Unblocked

You’ll have no trouble using PureVPN to unblock Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, and HBO Max. For many of these streaming services, PureVPN has dedicated “Shortcuts” that instantly connect you to the best available server in just a couple of seconds. This made it very convenient to start streaming my favorite content.

In my testing, I found PureVPN to be quite effective in accessing Netflix’s US library. However, I did experience occasional delays when loading new episodes or making adjustments to settings, such as enabling subtitles. Therefore, it’s essential to consider these factors when you begin streaming your favorite shows.

PureVPN easily slipped past Hulu’s restrictions so that I could access my account. Lesser-known VPNs rarely avoid Hulu’s proxy detection, but I was able to test PureVPN on some of my favorite episodes of Saturday Night Live and didn’t experience any lags or buffering.

I was surprised that PureVPN had no trouble accessing Hulu.

PureVPN worked well to unblock Amazon Prime Video. I had a buffer-free experience while testing it out. I was able to watch multiple seasons of the popular show, The Expanse.

PureVPN didn’t have any issues unblocking Disney+. I tested PureVPN with Disney+ by connecting to its optimized Shortcut servers with my account and the site loaded quickly. I streamed The Mandalorian in HD without any buffering or lag.

In the past, PureVPN struggled to connect to HBO Max. So I was thrilled to find the VPN has a dedicated Shortcut for HBO Max that effortlessly connected me to my account with zero lag or buffering. I could start streaming Game of Thrones in less than a minute from connecting to PureVPN.

I also tested PureVPN with DAZN and BBC iPlayer, and found that the VPN can easily access these services. Having this much success is a great selling point for PureVPN.

Speed

- 8.0 / 10

Does PureVPN Offer High-Speeds? Yes, With Reliable Server Connections

I was impressed to see that PureVPN didn’t cause a significant drop in speed. I connected to various servers and they all performed well in my tests. This is due in part to PureVPN using the WireGuard protocol, which is designed for fast speeds and top-tier security. I used WireGuard on all of my connections to ensure I got the best speeds.

Speed Test Results

My regular internet speed is around 160Mbps, so I was pleased to find my speeds only dropped by around 20% on average.

Screenshots of Ookla speed test results with PureVPN connected to servers in the US, UK, Australia, and Germany.
I was impressed by PureVPN’s consistently fast speeds across its server network

In my experience, I enjoyed swift and dependable connectivity throughout various tasks like streaming, torrenting, gaming, and online browsing, with hardly any buffering or lag. Even when I connected to Australia, despite the considerable distance of around 15,000 kilometers, my speed only saw a minor impact.

Screenshot of graph created through running speed tests on various PureVPN servers in its global network.
PureVPN’s speeds were fast enough for streaming and torrenting on all tested servers

Usually, connecting to far-away servers causes a dramatic loss of speed, but PureVPN is able to mitigate that loss easily.

Is PureVPN Fast Enough for Gaming? Sometimes

PureVPN usually has the fast speeds necessary for gaming without lag. Most of my experience was seamless, and I could play battle royale-style games like Call of Duty: Warzone without lag or interruption on local servers.

However, I encountered issues with PureVPN’s virtual servers and high ping. PureVPN’s virtual servers were significantly slower than its regular servers, so I don’t recommend them for fast-paced online gaming. I also found some regular servers had very high ping. Anything below 100ms is good for gaming, but some PureVPN servers were over 200ms.

If you love gaming, ExpressVPN has reliably fast speeds and low ping times on its global server network. If you don’t like gaming on a computer and prefer a console, ExpressVPN also has native apps that work on Xbox, PS5, and even your Nintendo Switch.

Why Most Speed Tests are Pointless & How We Correctly Test VPN Speeds

Speed determines how fast content uploads, so if you're torrenting or streaming, you want the speed to be somewhat identical to your regular internet speed. Since a VPN encrypts your data, it usually takes a bit longer to send your data back and forth, which can slow down your connection. However, if your ISP deliberately slows down your connection (also known as throttling) a VPN might increase your internet speed. Testing a VPN is somewhat pointless because new servers pop up and affect speed. Your speed can also differ according to your location, so your speed test might not match ours. Having said that, we tested the speed in numerous locations to provide you with the average.

Servers

- 8.0 / 10

Server Network — A Large Network of Dedicated and Virtual Servers

PureVPN has 6,000+ servers and 300,000 IP addresses across 65 countries. The company owns and operates all of its servers to provide the best experience for its customers. While you can’t select a specific city to connect to in every region, you can connect to individual cities in the following countries: Australia, Canada, the UK, and the US.

However, 20 locations are actually virtual servers that are located in the US. Virtual servers aren’t physically located in the country where the VPN lists its location — they’re only programmed to look like they are.

Almost every time I tried to connect to a virtual server, I had incredibly high latency. Even though the interface indicated that the servers had minimal traffic and were expected to be fast, I encountered difficulties loading DNSLeakTest.com or Speedtest.net when connected to the servers in Belize, Puerto Rico, and Bosnia.

Unfortunately, it’s not easy to tell which servers are physical and which are virtual. There are no indications on PureVPN’s desktop or mobile apps, and, since PureVPN’s rebrand, the list of virtual servers is missing from its website. Hopefully, this will be rectified soon, as it’s frustrating to connect to a server just to find latency is very high.

I was impressed to find PureVPN has a range of optimized streaming and torrenting servers. If you click the “Shortcuts” menu, you’ll find options that are preconfigured to connect you to the best server for popular streaming services. Once connected, PureVPN opens the streaming site in your browser, making it convenient to access popular content.

Image of PureVPN's Shortcuts server options showing the streaming-optimized connections.
PureVPN’s Shortcuts automatically connect to your favorite streaming services

You can also create your own Shortcuts for easy access to your favorite websites. I set up a shortcut for YouTube in less than a minute, adding the YouTube URL and my preferred connection location. Once it was configured, I could simply click the YouTube shortcut to start watching videos from my favorite creators lag-free.

PureVPN’s P2P-optimized servers are available in more than 30 locations and can quickly be arranged by ping (or latency) so you can choose the fastest connection for your torrents.

Security Features

Top-Tier Encryption Levels

PureVPN uses AES-256-bit encryption as standard, the same level of encryption used by financial institutions and military bodies. In short, it’s the most secure encryption available and has never been hacked — it would take someone billions of years to brute-force crack it.

I was impressed by PureVPN’s Quantum-Resistant encryption, making it one of the top VPNs in 2024 for future-proofing your security. As cybersecurity attacks using quantum technology become more of a threat, PureVPN tackles this head-on by adding quantum-safe encryption keys, safeguarding your data against powerful threats in the future.

Multiple Secure Tunneling Protocols

PureVPN offers the WireGuard, OpenVPN, and IKEv2/IPSec protocols in its apps. These protocols have different benefits, depending on what you’re using the VPN connection for:

  • WireGuard — A lightweight protocol designed for blazing-fast speeds and top security — best for smooth streaming and online gaming.
  • OpenVPN — Established and reliable, with 2 versions — UDP and TCP. UDP is faster but more likely to be flagged by networks, while TCP is slower with better security (ideal for P2P file-sharing).
  • IKEv2/IPSec — Fast speeds and quick reconnections that are good for mobile users, but have a higher chance of being flagged or blocked by networks and firewalls.

Overall, WireGuard is the top choice for consistent speeds and high-level security. PureVPN will automatically select the best protocol for you, or you can manually choose a protocol in its Settings menu.

You also have the option to manually configure SSTP and L2TP/IPSec protocols with PureVPN, which aren’t natively available in the apps. You’ll find detailed setup guides on PureVPN’s support site if you want to use these connection protocols.

Automatic Kill Switch — Cuts Internet Access if VPN is Interrupted

All of PureVPN’s apps have an automatic kill switch, which cuts access to the internet if the VPN connection is interrupted. I tested the kill switch and was pleased to find it instantly stopped my internet connection to ensure my data wouldn’t be exposed.

Split Tunneling — Available on Windows and Android Apps

PureVPN’s split tunneling lets you pick which apps connect to the internet through the VPN, and which ones don’t. It’s great for multitasking — I used it while torrenting to protect my traffic with the encrypted connection while my email and work went through my regular WiFi connection.

Split tunneling can also give you a speed boost, as no unnecessary data is encrypted by the VPN. While it’s not compatible with PureVPN’s fastest protocol (WireGuard), you’ll find your speeds are still reliably fast.

Leak Protection — All Data Secured By the Encrypted Connection

Even when using military-grade encryption, there are ways for your data to leak. PureVPN uses data leak protection to secure your connection against IPv4, IPv6, DNS, and WebRTC leaks. I tested multiple servers in Europe, the UK, and the US to ensure my data wouldn’t be exposed, and PureVPN kept my data secure at all times.

Screenshot of a leak test from IPLeak.net showing no data leaks, with PureVPN connected to a US server.
I was impressed by PureVPN keeping all IP, DNS, and WebRTC data secure

None of my real information was visible, meaning PureVPN successfully prevented any data leaking.

Add-On Features — Useful Features Available for an Extra Cost

PureVPN also has several useful features that you can add to your subscription for a small monthly fee:

  • Dedicated IP — this is an IP address exclusively for use by you, making it less likely to be flagged by VPN detection software. It’s ideal for accessing sensitive data that usually triggers multi-factor authentication, like financial information or your business logins.
  • Port Forwarding — this lets you access your PC, laptop, or internet-connected device from anywhere in the world. You can also use port forwarding to set up and host online gaming servers for your friends or speed up your torrents.
  • DDoS Protection — DDoS stands for “Distributed Denial-of-Service” and it’s a kind of cyberattack that disrupts your network by overwhelming it with traffic. It’s often associated with competitive online gaming, and it is worth protecting yourself against if you play eSports or have a high-value business.
  • Pure² — a security bundle that includes PureVPN, PureKeep password manager, PureEncrypt secure cloud file storage, and PurePrivacy social media safeguarding. This package is designed to provide a complete security solution for your online activity and personal privacy.

Privacy Features

Improved Privacy Policy is Robust and Comprehensive

PureVPN has significantly improved its data privacy in recent years. After cooperating with the FBI in 2016 and using logged data in a cyberstalking case, PureVPN has since become a no-logs VPN. My research shows the VPN never collects or stores personally identifying data from its users.

While it does still collect some data (like general locations or the time a connection is made), this cannot be traced back to you. Rather, this data is used to monitor and improve the service, and is standard for a VPN service — all top VPNs record some data to keep operations running smoothly.

Independent Audit Confirms PureVPN’s Zero-Log Policy

In 2019, PureVPN voluntarily underwent an independent audit to verify its no-logs status and ran a huge marketing campaign to detail its reformed policies. Since then, PureVPN has become an “Always-on Audit” VPN — this means leading audit firm KPMG can conduct surprise audits of PureVPN at any time, without giving prior notice.

In every audit so far, PureVPN has been found to be a no-log VPN service — it doesn’t log or store user-origin IP addresses, assigned VPN IPs, connection times, or any user activity through the VPN connection. This reassures me that when I’m connected to PureVPN’s servers, my online activity and data are secure and completely anonymous.

Anonymous Payment Methods Boost Anonymity

I was pleased to find PureVPN has the option of anonymous payments as well. As well as credit and debit cards and PayPal, you have the choice of paying through CoinGate with BitCoin, LiteCoin, or Ethereum. This means you can subscribe to and set up PureVPN without using your personal details.

Jurisdiction — Based in the British Virgin Islands, a Privacy Haven

In 2021, PureVPN relocated its headquarters from Hong Kong to the British Virgin Islands (BVI). By doing so, the company has placed itself within a privacy haven, much like its competitor ExpressVPN.

The BVI is outside of any intelligence-sharing alliances, providing the ideal location for privacy-focused services. Additionally, companies located in the BVI are not required to log or store user data, thus ensuring user privacy.

PureVPN’s decision to relocate was aimed at easing user concerns about data privacy. Although Hong Kong is beyond the reach of Eyes Alliance jurisdictions, users were still apprehensive about the influence of China on data privacy. PureVPN’s move away from China has allayed user fears and ensures that your data is now safe and secure.

Torrenting — Dedicated P2P Connections, But Not Available Worldwide

A little under half of PureVPN’s servers support P2P connections, which is a good number of servers compared to other VPNs. However, there are noticeable gaps in P2P coverage. Some regions like Asia simply don’t have any nearby P2P servers available (the only P2P servers in Asia are Turkey, Russia, and Brunei).

Fortunately, all P2P servers benefit from safety features that protect your identity and activity, like military-grade encryption and leak protection. This helps you torrent safely by keeping your location and activity anonymous. It also protects you from ISP throttling, which is when the ISP deliberately slows down your connection for using too much bandwidth.

Does PureVPN Work in China? Maybe

PureVPN might work in China, providing you manually configure it. When I contacted customer support about connecting in China, the agent gave me a list of servers and suggested I follow one of the setup guides available on its help website.

You also have the option to use TCP Listener software to connect to PureVPN from China. This open-source and free software connects to PureVPN’s servers specifically for customers in China. Once you have the TCP Listener software, live chat customer support can give you the addresses you need to access PureVPN’s list of servers.

Unfortunately, this is all pretty complicated for a regular user. If you’re looking for a VPN that works in China with no extra steps, it’s best to stick with a tried and tested VPN for China.

User Experience

- 10.0 / 10

Getting started with PureVPN is incredibly easy and one of the most user-friendly processes I’ve experienced. It has impressive platform compatibility, so you can use PureVPN to secure all of your devices either directly or through your router. I also found the app interface intuitive to use and suitable for beginners and experienced VPN users.

Simultaneous Device Connections — Connects up to 10 Devices

PureVPN supports up to 10 simultaneous device connections, recently increasing its number of offered connections. This is a huge selling point, considering most VPNs only allow a handful of connections.

Device Compatibility — Works With Major Devices and Operating Systems

PureVPN is compatible with major operating systems like Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, Linux, and more. I didn’t have any issues when I tried it on my Windows and Android devices — as a Windows user primarily, I found PureVPN quick to set up and easy to use. I was also impressed to find PureVPN has a GUI for Linux, making it much easier to use.

You can protect every device on your network by installing PureVPN on your router. I got a colleague to try it on a Mac and it worked well too. It can also be configured on Chromecast, Roku, and game consoles, and it has detailed guides if you want to set up a VPN connection with your smart TV.

Screenshot of PureVPN's compatible devices from the PureVPN website.
I was impressed by PureVPN’s native app support for multiple devices

I was impressed by PureVPN’s Fire Stick apps, which are much more comprehensive than other VPNs I’ve tested. I could switch between protocols, activate split tunneling, and favorite the top servers for faster connections in the future.

In addition to native applications, PureVPN can be run using browser extensions for Chrome, Edge, and Firefox. Though these extensions don’t offer as much coverage as the full application. The extension will protect your browser traffic, but it will not offer protection while using other applications.

Ease of Setup & Installation — One-click Installation and Easy Navigation

Setting up PureVPN is easy and seamless. After you subscribe to the service, you get a step-by-step guide to setting up your account in a few clicks. Once I subscribed, PureVPN showed me different options to determine how I want to use the service. I could then choose from those options and get an optimized download.

Screenshot of PureVPN's customized installation options for different VPN uses.
I was impressed by PureVPN’s personalized approach to discovering my intended VPN use

When I clicked “Stream,” PureVPN downloaded a proxy extension to my compatible browser (I use Chrome). In the extension, I found optimized connections for various streaming services. Clicking on a service automatically connected to a server and opened the streaming service in a new browser window in seconds, so I could start streaming instantly.

For “Downloads,” PureVPN is pre-configured with the optimal tunneling protocol, server connections, and automatic kill switch. I didn’t have to make any manual configurations for the best torrenting experience.

I like that I can alter my configurations if my VPN requirements change, so I’m not stuck with a VPN optimized for one purpose.

After choosing my desired configuration, PureVPN prompted me to download the correct app for my operating system. As the program was downloaded, PureVPN reminded me of the information I would need to log in to the desktop client. I found this extra step convenient, as I could copy and paste my credentials into the client once it had been fully installed.

Desktop Apps — Easy-to-Navigate, With Optimized Servers on Browser Extensions

On download, I found PureVPN’s app interfaces are clean and easy to use. I had no issues navigating to server lists, app settings, my account details, and more.

Screenshot of PureVPN's Windows app showing its clean and simple interface.
I found PureVPN’s interface ideal for beginner and more advanced users

PureVPN recommends using its browser extensions to quickly unblock streaming sites, so I tested those as well. They were even easier to use than the desktop client, with optimized server connections for specific popular websites like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, BBC iPlayer, and YouTube.

Images of PureVPN's browser extension, highlighting its streaming-optimized servers.
PureVPN’s browser extension is very easy to use so you can connect immediately

The browser extension only protects internet traffic going through that specific browser. If you’re trying to stream and torrent simultaneously, you should use the desktop client — PureVPN’s desktop apps have Shortcuts available for your favorite streaming services so you can make secure connections.

Mobile Apps — Intuitive Interfaces for Android and iOS

I was pleased to find PureVPN’s mobile apps have a similar intuitive interface as its desktop apps. I downloaded the iOS app from the PureVPN website and it took just a couple of minutes to install and set up.

Images of PureVPN's iOS apps showing the interface and ease of connecting to a server.
PureVPN’s consistent design makes it easy to switch between device

I like that the apps are easy to navigate, making it simple to choose a server (at country or city level) and connect. PureVPN’s mobile apps aren’t loaded with features, but I was pleased with the automatic kill switch, protocol selection, and option to run a basic speed test to ensure my connection was fast.

It was also always clear when I was connected, as there would be an icon in my notifications bar even when I exited the application. This lets me monitor my security in an unobtrusive way, especially when using my mobile device on public connections.

Support

- 9.0 / 10

PureVPN offers 3 support options: 24/7 Live Chat, Email/Ticket Support, and Helpdesk Knowledge Base. Among these, 24/7 live chat support is the most convenient way to reach customer service.

There are two methods to access the live chat feature: either through the PureVPN support website or using the Support menu within the application. However, I encountered limitations with the chatbot on the support site, as it didn’t permit me to pose precise inquiries. This restriction contributed to a rather frustrating encounter.

On the other hand, connecting to live chat through the app was much easier as it directly connected me to a support agent. They promptly answered my queries and provided tailored recommendations based on my individual circumstances.

PureVPN’s live chat agents were helpful and knowledgeable
PureVPN’s live chat agents were helpful and knowledgeable

PureVPN’s Helpdesk Knowledge Base has lots of options for setup guides and FAQs, but navigating it can be tricky. For instance, I clicked on a “VPN Basics” article but was redirected to a broader overview of VPN tunneling protocols. However, using the Search function made it easier to find relevant articles for troubleshooting, billing, and more.

Unfortunately, I received no response from PureVPN’s email ticketing system despite sending multiple requests, leaving me frustrated and disappointed.

How We Test Customer Support and Why Should You Care

We personally test the customer support team of every VPN we review. This means asking technical question through the live chat feature (where applicable) and measuring the response time for email questions. Whether you need to connect to a specific server, change your security protocol, or configure a VPN on your router, finding a VPN with quality customer support should be important to you.

Pricing

- 9.0 / 10

PureVPN is priced very reasonably, considering its top-tier encryption and fast global speeds. While it’s not the most comprehensive VPN service available, its low price makes it an attractive option for a long-term subscription.

Although the monthly plan is more expensive than some of the top monthly VPNs in 2024, PureVPN provides no shortage of discounts. When I signed up for a 1-month subscription, PureVPN offered me an 84% discount for the 2-year + 4 months plan.

Payment Methods — Secure and Anonymous

Previously, you could only pay for PureVPN with a credit card, PayPal, or Google Play. So I was pleased to see that PureVPN has added a cryptocurrency option to their payment system. Using CoinGate, you can sign up for PureVPN with BitCoin, LiteCoin, or Ethereum as well as credit cards, PayPal, and Google Play.

Money-Back Guarantee — Takes Several Days For Refund Approval

To fully test PureVPN, I signed up for a 1-month subscription and used the service for 26 days. I then reached out to PureVPN’s live chat to cancel my account and request a refund.

After canceling my account, PureVPN customer service forwarded my refund request to the billing team for review. This seemed rather odd, as most VPNs provide a refund immediately. I had to wait 3 days to hear back from the billing team about my review request.

Screenshots of PureVPN's customer service responding to a refund request and forwarding the request to the billing team.
I was surprised that PureVPN doesn’t offer approval for a refund immediately

During the time it took to review my request, I received several emails from PureVPN’s customer service team trying to get me to keep the service. Some of these emails were very pushy, using hard-selling tactics that were off-putting.

Screenshot of email response from PureVPN's billing team confirming a refund request.
I was disappointed that it took so long to have my refund approved

I think it’s important that canceling a service be as easy as signing up for one, and PureVPN made this process painful. Make sure you request a refund with time to spare if you decide to use the money-back guarantee, as you may have to wait several days for confirmation.

Final Verdict

PureVPN has recently undergone significant upgrades, becoming one of the top VPN services available for streaming. The VPN’s global network provides fast speeds, ensuring seamless streaming, gaming, and torrenting.

However, PureVPN’s virtual server network is slower than its competitors, and it can be challenging to discern when you’ve connected to one. Additionally, concerns have been raised about PureVPN’s data logging and sharing history.

Fortunately, after thorough testing and research, I can confirm that PureVPN no longer logs any identifiable information — all connections are entirely anonymous.

PureVPN’s affordability is one of its most significant selling points, making it a great option for those on a budget. The 31-day money-back guarantee also allows you to try PureVPN for yourself risk-free. Just keep in mind that if you request a refund, it may take a few days to process.

FAQs About PureVPN

Is PureVPN good?

Yes, PureVPN is a secure and private VPN service. PureVPN can unblock every major streaming service and has several advanced security features that can protect your information as you surf the web.

While PureVPN has hit-or-miss customer service, I was satisfied overall with its service. PureVPN has proven itself to be reliable and safe despite its prior issues, and its user-friendly interface makes securing connections simple. I suggest you test PureVPN for yourself to find out if it’s the right choice for you — if not, you can get a full refund.

Does PureVPN have browser extensions?

Yes, PureVPN has extensions for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge browsers. It’s free to download the extension to your browser, but you’ll need to sign up for a PureVPN subscription to log in and connect to the servers.

PureVPN’s browser extensions are proxies, so they won’t encrypt your entire device when you’re connected, only your browser. You can choose various global servers, including direct connections to popular streaming services, benefit from WebRTC leak protection, spoof your GPS location, and configure settings to disable the proxy for specific websites.

Is PureVPN legal?

Yes, PureVPN is legal to own and use to improve your online security and privacy. You are well within your rights to download PureVPN to your compatible devices and connect to servers with high-quality features to protect your data and online activity.

However, some countries prohibit the use of VPNs. Using PureVPN in a location like China, the UAE, or Russia may result in a fine or prosecution if you’re detected. It’s also important to note that using a VPN does not allow you to commit illegal online acts. My team and I don’t condone illegal activity, so ensure you are aware of local laws before using a VPN.

How do I cancel my PureVPN subscription?

You can cancel your PureVPN subscription by contacting customer service using the 24/7 live chat. When you connect with an agent, simply ask to cancel your PureVPN subscription. The agent will process your request and you’ll be able to use PureVPN until your subscription ends.

If you want to cancel within 31 days of subscribing, you’ll be entitled to a full refund. Just note that this can take several days to process and you won’t get an instant refund confirmation.

Is PureVPN a Chinese company?

No, PureVPN is not a Chinese company. PureVPN was previously headquartered in Hong Kong, but moved to the British Virgin Islands to provide better data protection for its users. Its parent company, Gaditek, is based in Pakistan. Like the British Virgin Islands, this is outside of any data-sharing alliances.

Can I use PureVPN for free?

You can’t test PureVPN for free, but you can get your money back after trying it for 31 days. PureVPN offers a money-back guarantee with every subscription, so you can test the service and get a full refund if you’re not satisfied.

It can take some time to get your money back from PureVPN. When I tested the money-back guarantee, I found customer support tried pushing me to keep my subscription. However, if you maintain that you don’t need the service anymore, you’ll eventually get a refund. When I tested this process, I got my money back in 5 days.

If you’re not satisfied with PureVPN and want to test free VPN options, you can try some of these safe, free VPNs.

Is PureVPN trustworthy?

Yes, PureVPN is trustworthy, despite its prior history of logging user data. After its reputation was damaged, PureVPN has worked with independent auditors and overhauled its privacy policy to guarantee no identifying user data is logged or stored.

Some data is collected to ensure smooth operation and improve services, but none of it can be linked back to you. PureVPN also passed multiple DNS, IP, and WebRTC leak tests to ensure its military-grade encryption and automatic kill switch work properly.
