Based in Switzerland, one of the strongest supporters of online privacy and freedom, Perfect Privacy is a VPN provider that’s been in the market since 2008.
When we dug deeper into the VPN’s capabilities and features we found out that it is keener on online privacy and security than it is on online freedom. Its security features are pretty advanced and impressive, but when trying to access geo-blocked services such as Netflix and BBC iPlayer, we had no luck. In all fairness, the majority of these services have incorporated tools to counter VPN usage. Therefore, it wouldn’t be justifiable for us to label a VPN as a complete failure simply because it cannot bypass these measures.
A VPN’s main priority is protecting its users’ online anonymity and security before giving them the full online freedom, and Perfect Privacy does a really good job in that area. Starting with the encryption used to secure the network of servers, Perfect Privacy uses a military grade AES 256-bit encryption.
In addition, multiple security protocols are supported (OpenVPN, IPSec, SSH2 tunnel, Squid proxies, SOCKS5 proxies, and PPTP). Other security features include an internet kill switch and DNS leak protection.
The have three added features:
- TrackStop – An ad and malware blocker
- NeuroRouting – Is a machine learning multi hop function that selects the best route for your data.
- MultiHop – This will route your connection through several VPN servers. While it will slow down your connection, it will also make it more secure.
To sum it up, if you’re looking for a VPN provider for the sake of streaming or unblocking restricted content, then we wouldn’t recommend this one. However, if your main focus is privacy and security, then Perfect Privacy is a considerable option.
