Keezel Review 2024: Before You Buy, Is It Worth It?

Keezel Overview

“2024 UPDATE! Unfortunately, Keezel is no longer available. Why not check out our list of the best VPNs in 2024 or find out more about our top recommendation, ExpressVPN.”

Editors' Note: ExpressVPN and this site are in the same ownership group.

While Keezel is a decent VPN, you can get better quality VPNs at an affordable price. For example, ExpressVPN is the best I’ve tested and has a 30-day money-back guarantee so you can buy it risk-free.

Keezel is a small, sleek hardware device designed to encrypt your data using VPN technology when using unsecured Wi-Fi hotspots. You can secure all of your devices with just one Keezel, with no software installation needed. The pocket size of Keezel makes it very portable, but it’s not just the size that makes Keezel stand out; it uses strong 256-bit encryption to secure data.
Also, it protects your browsing activities from malware and annoying pop-up ads. Keezel partners with ProXPN, Le VPN, NordVPN, and PureVPN to offer a wide range of locations and plenty of bandwidth as part of your subscription. While you can’t pick which partner your connection goes through, you can choose the country that the server is in. You can connect five devices simultaneously, and with the premium plans you can choose from 1,250 servers in 160 countries.

Speed

Why Most Speed Tests are Pointless & How We Correctly Test VPN Speeds

Speed determines how fast content uploads, so if you're torrenting or streaming, you want the speed to be somewhat identical to your regular internet speed. Since a VPN encrypts your data, it usually takes a bit longer to send your data back and forth, which can slow down your connection. However, if your ISP deliberately slows down your connection (also known as throttling) a VPN might increase your internet speed. Testing a VPN is somewhat pointless because new servers pop up and affect speed. Your speed can also differ according to your location, so your speed test might not match ours. Having said that, we tested the speed in numerous locations to provide you with the average.

User Experience

- 7.6 / 10

Keezel is an easy-to-use device, with the added benefit of no software installation required. It’s a fairly straightforward process to get it set up. Turn on the Keezel by pressing the only button on the device, then all your Wi-Fi enabled devices will be able to find its secure hotspot. To connect Keezel to the internet, all you have to do is type ‘keezel/’ into your browser’s address bar. Then, just follow the prompt to connect to the Wi-Fi network.

How We Test Customer Support and Why Should You Care

We personally test the customer support team of every VPN we review. This means asking technical question through the live chat feature (where applicable) and measuring the response time for email questions. Whether you need to connect to a specific server, change your security protocol, or configure a VPN on your router, finding a VPN with quality customer support should be important to you.
