How to Download and Install NordLocker for Free

1. Go directly to the free NordLocker download page.
   
2. Click Get NordLocker Free, which will open a new page with a download button for Windows or Mac.
3. Choose your operating system, and the file will instantly download to your computer.
4. Click on the .exe file to begin the installation process.
5. Once you agree to the License Agreement, click Install, and NordLocker will complete the installation process.

How to Uninstall NordLocker

If you’re not happy with NordLocker or you want to remove it from your computer, you can easily uninstall it in a few easy steps. Be aware that if you have files in your locker and you didn’t save a copy on your computer, they will be deleted forever. Therefore, make sure to look through your lockers and decrypt any files you want to restore on your device. Files saved to the cloud will still be accessible if you log in on a different computer.

1. Type Add or Remove Programs in your Windows search bar.
   
2. Scroll through the list of installed programs until you find NordLocker and click Uninstall. Ignore the program called NordLocker F5.
3. The uninstallation wizard will open and ask you to confirm you want to delete NordLocker, click yes.
4. It will also ask you if you want to delete the NordLocker river, F5, click yes, and it will be removed as well.
5. To complete the uninstallation, you will need to restart your computer, but this doesn’t have to be right away.

Master Password and Recovery Reset

When you first create your account, you will be able to choose a secure password. NordLocker gives users plenty of flexibility in choosing the password. It only has to be six characters or more. No need to use a combination of capital and lowercase or include random symbols. That being said, you should use a secure password, but it should be easy to remember and type as you’ll be using it quite often.

If you forget your password, you can reset it, provided you copied down the 25 digit recovery key. Simply click on the I forgot Master Password when trying to login. Enter the recovery key, and you create a new master password.

If you don’t have your recovery key, your account will be locked, and the files stored on it will be inaccessible, even to the customer support and tech support teams at NordLocker, since the files are encrypted on the client-side as well as the user side.

When you create a new account, you also choose a master password, which is used to encrypt your files (see technical security below). NordLocker also generates a recovery key that’s only available to you and is best kept offline for added security. This can be used to reset your master password, but exercise caution. If you lose both your master password and the recovery key, you won’t be able to open your files.

If your recovery key is misplaced, but you possess your master password, follow these steps to regain access. Launch the NordLocker program, navigate to the Account tab, and select the option to Reset Recovery Key. You will need to enter your master keyword, and a new 25 digit code will be assigned to you.
