SecureVPN.com Overview April 2021

While SecureVPN.com is a decent VPN, you can get better quality VPNs at an affordable price. Surfshark, for example, offers premium VPN features for a super low monthly fee — so you don’t have to settle for less.

SecureVPN.com is a new up and rising VPN provider that was launched in 2015 by the online security company, XBT Holding. Even though it’s located in Texas, USA, it exerts a great effort to protect its users’ online privacy regardless of the harsh data retention laws in its location. Like we said, it’s up and rising, we meant it still has a long way to go if it wants to compete with the big boys in the market. For instance, it only supports OpenVPN as its security protocol and the encryption used is the 3DES-EDE3-CBC 192-bit encryption. Don’t get us wrong, this is a strong encryption but it’s a little outdated and today most VPN providers use the more advanced 256-bit encryption to secure their networks. Other areas that need improvement include its small network of servers, the lack of a kill switch, and a more comprehensive client software with a little more capabilities. So far SecureVPN.com shows a lot of potential to become a great service but it would need to improve fast to meet its higher than average price.

Speed7.4

Why Most Speed Tests are Pointless & How We Correctly Test VPN Speeds

Speed determines how fast content uploads, so if you're torrenting or streaming, you want the speed to be somewhat identical to your regular internet speed. Since a VPN encrypts your data, it usually takes a bit longer to send your data back and forth, which can slow down your connection. However, if your ISP deliberately slows down your connection (also known as throttling) a VPN might increase your internet speed. Testing a VPN is somewhat pointless because new servers pop up and affect speed. Your speed can also differ according to your location, so your speed test might not match ours. Having said that, we tested the speed in numerous locations to provide you with the average.

User Experience8.4

When we say it’s easy to use, we really mean it. SecureVPN.com didn’t take more than a few minutes to register for an account, download the client software and install it. The interface of the application, however, is a little too simple. All you have is to connect and disconnect button in the middle and a drop-down menu at the top to select from your desired server. That’s it. There’s nothing else that you can do. You can’t control which protocol you use, there’s no kill switch, there’s literally nothing else to it.

Before you make a final decision, we highly recommend you check out some alternative VPNs which may offer better features and prices.

Support8.4

How We Test Customer Support and Why Should You Care

We personally test the customer support team of every VPN we review. This means asking technical question through the live chat feature (where applicable) and measuring the response time for email questions. Whether you need to connect to a specific server, change your security protocol, or configure a VPN on your router, finding a VPN with quality customer support should be important to you.
