USA IP VPN Review 2024: Before You Buy, Is It Worth It?

USA IP VPN Overview

My first thought was that USA IP VPN just chose this name because it caters to the US but I soon discovered it has servers in 19 other countries. I was particularly eager to put it to the test because it prides itself on being a secure, no-logs VPN that is reasonably priced.

However, it is not worth purchasing USA IP because you will most likely have a non-working product for which you can’t get a refund, as was the case for me. As I was unable to access this VPN’s network, it was impossible to confirm the service’s claims of high security and privacy protection.

Fortunately, there is a wide selection of top VPN services to choose from. You are sure to find one that will suit whatever your needs may be, including security, torrenting, streaming, speed, and privacy.

Don’t Have Time? Here’s a 1-Minute Summary

Usually, we test a VPNs full set of features for our reviews. Unfortunately, I was unable to connect to USA IP and so was unable to test the service. Here is what I can tell you.

I Couldn’t Access Any Streaming Platforms Using USA IP

I purchased a USA IP subscription and downloaded the Windows client to my computer, but wasn’t able to access any of the network’s servers. As a result, I was unable to test this service and see if it could unblock my favorite streaming services.

A primary motivation for using VPNs is to access geo-restricted content. The internet may be filled with unlimited resources, but it isn’t as open as you might imagine. For example, BBC iPlayer is only available in the United Kingdom. Hulu and HBO Max are also similar services that are only available in the US. Likewise, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, which you can access almost anywhere, have different libraries based on your region. A good VPN should provide access to all streaming services, allowing users to watch their paid content while overseas.

Since I couldn’t connect to USA IP, it’s difficult to say which of the streaming platforms it can unblock. Therefore, I don’t recommend USA IP VPN if you are looking for a reliable VPN to access content on streaming platforms. ExpressVPN allows access to all popular streaming services, including Disney+, Netflix, HBO Max, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and BBC iPlayer. In my tests, I had great streaming speeds, HD content loaded quickly, and I was able to play 4K videos on my PS4 without any noticeable lag.

Speed

- 1.0 / 10

Impossible to Determine

USA IP VPN servers couldn’t be tested for speed since I wasn’t able to get the service to work. In spite of the VPN’s claims that its service significantly enhances internet speeds, there was no way for me to test the service. It was impossible to connect to the service no matter how many times I attempted.

Why Most Speed Tests are Pointless & How We Correctly Test VPN Speeds

Speed determines how fast content uploads, so if you're torrenting or streaming, you want the speed to be somewhat identical to your regular internet speed. Since a VPN encrypts your data, it usually takes a bit longer to send your data back and forth, which can slow down your connection. However, if your ISP deliberately slows down your connection (also known as throttling) a VPN might increase your internet speed. Testing a VPN is somewhat pointless because new servers pop up and affect speed. Your speed can also differ according to your location, so your speed test might not match ours. Having said that, we tested the speed in numerous locations to provide you with the average.

Servers

- 1.0 / 10

Server Network — Limited and Inaccessible Server Network

USA IP’s server network is one of the most limited around, with just 20 countries. It is even more disappointing that none of the servers I attempted to connect to were accessible. When I attempted to connect to one of the servers located in Luxembourg, a series of errors occurred when using the Windows client and failed certificate authorizations when using OpenVPN.

Screenshot of USAIP VPN server list

I was disappointed that none of USA IP’s advertised servers functioned.

It is also likely that, if USA IP VPN were to work, there would be heavy user traffic because of its limited server selection. Such limited server pools are more often than not either blacklisted or blocked by streaming platforms.

Security — Multiple Protocol Options

The high-grade AES-256 bit encryption used by USA IP would assure maximum security for your data if it was operational. You would have to go through trillions of combinations to break it, something that has yet to be accomplished. In addition, the VPN supports four VPN protocols, including SSTP, L2TP/IPSec, PPTP, and OpenVPN. Using the latter option will give you more freedom on the internet, while also enhancing your privacy.

This service also offers the possibility of bypassing blocked internet traffic, which is a method of shielding your IP address if you find yourself in a location where internet access is restricted. This would have made USA IP a great deal if it had been functional. However, many essential features that would make the experience more enjoyable, such as split tunneling and a kill switch, are missing.

Privacy — Might Not Keep Your Identity Private

USA IP’s privacy policy is very brief, ambiguous, and provides little information regarding the type of user data collected by the company. While its privacy policy explicitly states that no sensitive user information is collected, any benign information collected by the service can be disclosed to third parties or law enforcement agencies.

The combination of this as well as the unfavorable UK jurisdiction from which USA IP operates may cause some to be concerned. I wouldn’t trust a document that hasn’t been reviewed for a long time and seems to lack any detail. The site could use some revamping to meet modern UX standards.

The privacy policy of USA IP appeared to be too brief and unclear to me.

In my opinion, you should avoid using a VPN that displays such a blatant disregard for privacy and exhibits such a lack of transparency concerning its practices. As opposed to getting involved with a service that has questionable logging policies, I suggest you use ExpressVPN as it has been certified by independent auditors not to log user activities.

Torrenting — No P2P Support

Even though I couldn’t access USA IP servers, its terms of service prohibit the exchange of copyrighted material. Moreover, there is no kill switch to ensure that your IP address remains protected in case of a connection drop.

My team and I don’t condone participation in any illegal activities. Therefore, you must check the regulations in your country to ensure you are not in breach of any laws while torrenting.

Does USA IP VPN Work in China? No!

I was unable to test its servers since the service was inaccessible. While it claims to be capable of bypassing traffic restrictions, it lacks obfuscation tools that would enable you to access services and content. Given that my support ticket went unanswered for nearly two weeks, I was unable to confirm or get further explanation from support on this issue.

Several VPN services claim to bypass China’s restrictive firewall, but do not deliver. If you need a reliable VPN that works there, then you should give ExpressVPN a try, and safely access the web in China. While you should be cautious when using a VPN in China, you aren’t likely to face any legal repercussions. It is common practice in China to combat VPNs by blocking the services technologically as opposed to pursuing foreigners who use them.

User Experience

- 1.0 / 10

I Was Unable to Access USA IP’s Network

Despite USA IP’s compatibility with most operating systems, it only offers a standalone client for Windows 8, 7, Vista, and XP. For the latest version of Windows or macOS, you’ll need a third-party application to load the VPN configuration files. While the process only takes a few minutes, it requires a little more technical expertise than downloading an all-in-one application.

Upon signing into the native app on my Windows device, I found that I was unable to establish a server connection. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software once in an attempt to correct this issue but without any success.

After multiple attempts, I couldn’t sign up for USA IP VPN

I went on to set up the VPN using OpenVPN GUI and Viscosity, but my credentials were not accepted and I was unable to connect. Even if this VPN did work seamlessly, setting it up might prove tricky for those of you who are not familiar with VPNs. You would be wasting your time trying to make USA IP work when there are high-end VPNs at similar monthly prices that offer instant server connections.

Support

- 1.0 / 10

Customer support is practically non-existent for USA IP users. I contacted USA IP VPN’s support email address multiple times to see how responsive and helpful it was, but I never heard back. I was disappointed that I did not receive a response from USA IP regarding why the VPN had ceased to function. Specifically, I wanted to know if the VPN was working to restore access to the service.

It is possible, however, that the answer you’re seeking can be found on the help page, which includes setup guides and solutions to error codes you may encounter.

How We Test Customer Support and Why Should You Care

We personally test the customer support team of every VPN we review. This means asking technical question through the live chat feature (where applicable) and measuring the response time for email questions. Whether you need to connect to a specific server, change your security protocol, or configure a VPN on your router, finding a VPN with quality customer support should be important to you.

Pricing

- 3.0 / 10

Currently, this service offers only one type of plan that includes all its features and benefits. There are, however, different pricing tiers depending on the length of your subscription. The service is available on a daily, weekly, monthly, or annual basis. There is also a free demo available on the site, but I was not able to access it.

Among the payment methods listed on the website are credit cards, PayPal, Webmoney, Skrill, Perfect Money, and Ukash. However, PayPal and Perfect Money appear to be the only payment methods that work since clicking on any other payment method causes an error to appear. My PayPal account was automatically charged for renewal, but my subscription was not activated.

It was disappointing to be unable to use my credit card to subscribe as it would be the easiest option

I attempted to contact support multiple times and was unsuccessful in getting a refund or assistance with the connection. In my opinion, it is not recommended to pay for the service as it fails to deliver the desired results. It’s important to remember that the prices displayed on this page pertain to the plans offered by VPNs with USA IP addresses.

Final Verdict

I am particularly disappointed since many of USA IP VPN’s claims seemed promising. It was unable to provide me access to its network, and its support staff was unresponsive to my inquiries. Ultimately, I do not recommend this VPN in any circumstance whatsoever.

If you’re looking for a better alternative, ExpressVPN is a better option if you want a VPN that is truly secure and privacy-focused. Not only is this one of the most secure VPNs currently available, but it can also unblock home content on a wide range of streaming services and deliver lightning-fast speeds. You can test ExpressVPN out completely risk-free as it’s backed by a 30-day money-back guarantee — if you don’t like it, you can easily get a full refund.

FAQs About USA IP VPN

Is USA IP VPN good?

No, it was impossible to test out any USA IP VPN features on its native apps or open-source client due to the lack of functioning servers.

Can I use USA IP VPN for free?

Yes, you can find login information for a free demo of the USA IP VPN service on the website. As with the paid plan, I was unable to access the server on the free plan.

You can check out these providers if you are looking for free VPNs. However, I strongly advise that you avoid them as you could compromise your security and privacy. These companies collect your private information and sell it to third parties, allowing them to remain in business. Also, most of them do not use encryption algorithms, so your ISP will be able to track your online activities.

Is USA IP VPN really safe?

No, I was unable to encrypt my internet connections because USA IP servers were not active. Despite its claims of 256-bit encryption, it was not possible to use the service.
