VPN Tracker Reviews and Expert Opinion - April 2020

What do we look at?

VPN Tracker Overview

VPN Tracker is a VPN service that’s specially made for Mac computers but works on several other platforms as well.

It supports a number of protocols including PPTP, L2TP, IPSec, Cisco Meraki, EasyVPN, and SonicWall. Unfortunately, it doesn’t support OpenVPN, which is the most secure VPN protocol. If you take your online security very seriously, this isn’t the right VPN for you.

While they don’t support OpenVPN, the good thing is that they follow AES-256 bit encryption to keep your data safe.

VPN Trackers is mainly geared for Mac users and supports several Mac operating systems of various versions.

There are two main solutions – Company Connect and World Connect. If you want a VPN service for your entire company, you can select the Company Connect module. Individual users, on the other hand, can subscribe to World Connect.

For both solutions, there are two packages – VPN Tracker 365 (yearly purchase) and VPN Tracker 10 (lifetime deal). They also offer a free trial that lets you work on Company Connect for 30 days and World Connect for 24 hours.

These plans are further available in Basic, Pro, and VIP packages that let you connect multiple devices on your license. With all these plans and packages, there are a lot of choices when it comes to ordering a subscription.

While VPN tracker is created specifically for Mac computers, it supports a large number of other platforms as well. However, there are no apps for them, and you’ll need to configure the VPN on other devices manually.

  • Geared for Mac but supports many platforms

Why Most Speed Tests are Pointless & How We Correctly Test VPN Speeds

Speed determines how fast content uploads, so if you're torrenting or streaming, you want the speed to be somewhat identical to your regular internet speed. Since a VPN encrypts your data, it usually takes a bit longer to send your data back and forth, which can slow down your connection. However, if your ISP deliberately slows down your connection (also known as throttling) a VPN might increase your internet speed. Testing a VPN is somewhat pointless because new servers pop up and affect speed. Your speed can also differ according to your location, so your speed test might not match ours. Having said that, we tested the speed in numerous locations to provide you with the average.

User Experience8.0

VPN Tracker is a decent VPN for Mac computers, but it also supports 300 other devices. However, the most popular mobile platforms (iOS and Android) are not on the list of its supported devices, which is disappointing.

VPN Tracker allows you to connect multiple devices on one license, but that will increase your costs. Instead, you can try some of the more popular VPNs that let you connect up to 5 devices on one license, without charging anything extra.

They have active customer support, but that too comes with a price tag, which isn’t really fair. VPN Tracker guys might call themselves the best VPN providers for Mac, but they have a number of limitations.

How We Test Customer Support and Why Should You Care

We personally test the customer support team of every VPN we review. This means asking technical question through the live chat feature (where applicable) and measuring the response time for email questions. Whether you need to connect to a specific server, change your security protocol, or configure a VPN on your router, finding a VPN with quality customer support should be important to you.
