VPN Tracker Review 2024: Before You Buy, Is It Worth It?

VPN Tracker Overview

VPN Tracker supports both personal and business users, offering small and midsize organizations the ability to secure their employees and corporate networks. This VPN Tracker review analyzes the features it offers so that you can make an informed choice when choosing a VPN provider to protect your business online.

VPN Tracker works the same as a regular VPN by hiding your real IP address, providing solid speed, and unlocking geo-restricted content and websites. However, it may not be ideal for those requiring a large-scale server network.

This provider also offers what is known as a cancellation period. According to this money-back guarantee, you have 14 days from the moment your contract begins to cancel the subscription. If you’re not satisfied with VPN Tracker, I recommend you check out some of the best VPN services on the market.

Don’t Have Time? Here’s a 1-Minute Summary

  • Good unblocking performance. I was able to unblock most streaming websites, but Disney+ was completely inaccessible. Jump to my streaming tests here.
  • HD-capable speeds. VPN Tracker does not restrict bandwidth usage and my speed test results were very impressive. See my full test results here.
  • Extensive security features. The software offers a wide range of security features, including AES-256 bit encryption and OpenVPN, IPSec, and IKEv2 protocols. Discover what you could miss out on.
  • Logs some data. A look at the collection section of the site indicates that some information is stored about its users, but it’s fairly standard information. Click for more information.
  • Using more than one gets expensive quickly. You would have to pay a lot for just four locations if you wanted to use it as a business VPN. Learn how it may not be worth it.

VPN Tracker Unblocks Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, HBO Max, and BBC iPlayer (But Can’t Access Disney+)

Streaming was very enjoyable with VPN Tracker due to its fast speed and good connectivity to all servers. There are two main solutions offered by VPN Tracker – Company Connect and World Connect. You can choose the Company Connect module if you want a VPN service for your whole company. Individual users can, however, subscribe to World Connect. Using the VPN Tracker World Connect solution, I was able to unblock popular streaming services like Netflix, HBO Max, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, and BBC iPlayer.

Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, HBO Max, and BBC iPlayer: Unblocked

Many streaming services work hard to update their VPN detection tools and block VPN IP addresses, so it was impressive that VPN Tracker was able to access so many well-known streaming services. I could access Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, HBO Max, and BBC iPlayer with VPN Tracker.

As a fan of Netflix US, I was relieved to learn VPN Tracker worked well with the voluminous library. In my tests with VPN Tracker, I did not encounter any proxy errors. I was able to find Feel the Beat, a US-exclusive title, and watch it without any hassle.

I was able to watch shows exclusively available on Netflix US using the New York server

Amazon Prime Video imposes a strong VPN ban as well. VPN Tracker, however, was able to get around Amazon Prime Videos’ content blocking measures, allowing me to stream The Watch without any problems whatsoever.

I could stream anything from Amazon Prime Video’s library in seconds

While still connected to the server VPN Tracker provided to me, I hoped for positive results with Hulu. I was not disappointed. I was able to access Hulu using VPN Tracker without encountering any proxy errors.

I could watch my favorite BBC iPlayer shows right away

VPN Tracker is also an excellent choice for HBO Max. The login went without a hitch and the streaming went smoothly without buffering or interruptions. BBC iPlayer is another streaming service that everyone is interested in, but it is only accessible to United Kingdom residents. I was able to unblock BBC iPlayer without any problems and on the first try with VPN Tracker.

Disney+: Blocked

My Disney+ account was not accessible with VPN Tracker. Even after repeated attempts, I continued to receive the same error message. However, my Disney+ connection was restored after I disconnected the VPN.

Your device is connected to the Internet using a VPN or proxy service.

Overall, the VPN Tracker software was able to unblock five out of the six websites I tested it with. However, if watching Disney+ from around the world is important to you, then consider using a VPN like ExpressVPN which works well at bypassing geo-blocks.

Speed

- 9.0 / 10

Very Fast Local & International Download Speeds

I had an unexpectedly positive experience with speed testing and enjoyed a fast internet connection when connecting to various server locations. I had fast download speeds and a stable connection in countries like the U.S., Australia, and Germany, but the fastest server was located in France. It is helpful that this VPN gives users unlimited bandwidth, as this means the connection will be faster.

Testing was carried out with the VPN Tracker World Connect product, which is available as a standalone product or as part of the VPN Tracker 365 product suite, which incorporates VPN management capabilities.

Speed Test Results

VPN Tracker offers quite fast connection speeds. During my speed test, my download and upload speeds didn’t degrade too much, making this provider a good option for torrenting and video streaming.

I had a base download speed of 51.30 Mbps, but this dropped slightly by 11.6% when I connected to a US-based server. Not much of a difference really, and I would call this a relatively fast download speed.

Changing the server location to Germany also resulted in excellent speed. Despite an 18% decrease, download speed was still considerable enough to stream and surf the web. Ping times increased from 2 to 146 ms, which was still within acceptable limits. My download speed topped out at 47.48 Mbps when I was connected to the France server.

Screenshot showing speed test result using VPN Tracker

VPN Tracker provided me with constantly fast speeds

I connected to an Australian server to determine how the distant servers performed during the speed tests. The ping time increased by more than six times, my download speed was a solid 43.50 Mbps, and I was able to watch videos without buffering. Surfing the web wasn’t a problem either.

On the whole, I found VPN Tracker to provide excellent performance on the speed front and would recommend it to anyone looking for a service that does not significantly impact their internet connection speed.

Why Most Speed Tests are Pointless & How We Correctly Test VPN Speeds

Speed determines how fast content uploads, so if you're torrenting or streaming, you want the speed to be somewhat identical to your regular internet speed. Since a VPN encrypts your data, it usually takes a bit longer to send your data back and forth, which can slow down your connection. However, if your ISP deliberately slows down your connection (also known as throttling) a VPN might increase your internet speed. Testing a VPN is somewhat pointless because new servers pop up and affect speed. Your speed can also differ according to your location, so your speed test might not match ours. Having said that, we tested the speed in numerous locations to provide you with the average.

Servers

- 4.0 / 10

Server Network — Limited Server Network

Currently, VPN Tracker has servers located in 21 different countries around the world, including most countries in Europe, Asia, and the US. However, the company seems to fall short when it comes to sharing its servers’ details. It does not disclose how many servers it owns or operates.

Screenshot showing server locations available on VPN Tracker

I found VPN Trackers’s network coverage to be disappointing

This isn’t great news, especially when there are services like CyberGhost that offers incredibly large server networks with advanced security features. Having a large network of servers allows for smooth, reliable network connectivity no matter where your employees are located.

Security — No Kill Switch Included

VPN Tracker encrypts your data using AES 256-bit encryption, an industry standard. With current technology, 256-bit encryption is practically impossible to crack, as it is 2128 times more secure than 128-bit encryption. This means that even if your data is intercepted, it would be impossible to decrypt it.

A tunneling protocol is essential to ensuring your connection remains super secure at all times. VPN Tracker supports a variety of protocols, including OpenVPN, L2TP, SSL, IKEv2, SSTP, and PPTP. I strongly recommend you use OpenVPN whenever possible because it is the most secure. This will ensure the security of your employees on unsecured networks, which is especially important when traveling abroad.

For added protection, VPN Tracker also offers multi-factor authentication and team-based access control. Thanks to its 2-factor authentication feature, your account will be much harder to hack. After activation, a code will be sent to your chosen device before you can use your account.

Split routing is another useful tool the VPN offers. It lets you select specific networks and IP addresses to go through the VPN, while all the other internet traffic is routed through your ISP. Businesses can take advantage of this because a remote employee connected via VPN from a remote location can access specific targets via the VPN, while they can browse other external sites via their ISP.

Furthermore, the VPN always separates company traffic and private traffic. VPN Tracker supports split tunneling at the resource level by default, so only legitimate company traffic will be routed through the company network. Therefore, if one user is compromised, the rest of the network remains safe since that user did not have access to it.

I tested VPN Tracker for leaks of IP and DNS data and found that it was leak-proof. My IP and DNS addresses were changed to German ones, and my true US IP was never revealed.

Screenshot showing VPN Tracker passing an IP and DNS leak test

VPN Tracker didn’t allow my location or search history to get exposed

Unfortunately, VPN Tracker lacks a kill switch, arguably the most important tool a VPN provider can provide. The absence of a kill switch will result in unprotected connections in the event of server failure. It will not be apparent that you’re browsing the web without VPN protection, and that could leave you vulnerable.

Privacy — Collects Data but Separates Personal Traffic

VPN Tracker claims on its homepage that it does not log or store any personally identifiable information. However, the provider says in its privacy statement that it does process user data, including IP addresses, device IDs, time/date of logins, and user IDs.

The fact that VPN Tracker records the data above is quite concerning as it contains some very identifiable information. But, how does VPN Tracker use this information? According to the provider, this information is logged and processed for identification as the license owner and to keep an eye on unauthorized access to your account.

Screenshot showing an excerpt of VPN tracker's privacy policy

VPN Tracker collects necessary data for account setup and data related to payment methods

VPN Tracker will also receive information from third party apps that you use with it due to its many integrations. Nonetheless, it can’t read data that hasn’t been routed through it. So, it won’t collect any of your usual personal data, like video calls and instant messages.

The VPN Tracker’s headquarters is in Germany, so it has to follow the laws governing data retention and privacy there. Fortunately, Germany is among many European countries that have adopted GDPR laws to protect individuals’ privacy online. Despite this, Germany is a member of the 5/9/14 Eyes and will exchange data with other alliance members. Some individuals are against the 5/9/14 Eyes because it compromises individual privacy and permits governments to gain a great deal of information about the citizens living throughout the world.

Fortunately, VPN Tracker specifies that it will only disclose stored data if legally compelled to do so. For instance, VPN Tracker would be obligated to hand over data if the German government requested it. But since no browsing data is kept, it is difficult to correlate activities between subscribers and the network.

Top-tier real VPNs use military-grade encryption to guard your online privacy and maintain strict no-logs policies to ensure your data is not recorded, so it can’t be accessed even if they’re physically inspected.

Torrenting — Torrenting With VPN Tracker Carries Risks

The VPN Tracker website does not mention torrenting, and there are no clear rules regarding it. I decided to ask VPN Trackers’ support team since the company website offered no information about torrenting. Despite not getting a clear answer, I was told that the company doesn’t limit any traffic.

Even if file-sharing is allowed, it lacks a kill switch, which is an important torrenting function. Thus, if your connection drops for whatever reason, your IP address and online activities may be revealed to your ISP.

Torrenting requires anonymity, and in countries where the practice is banned, users could get in trouble, face fines or imprisonment. In that regard, I always recommend that you don’t download illegal content. Check out our ExpressVPN review to learn what makes a great torrenting VPN.

Does VPN Tracker Work in China? Maybe!

This was another question I addressed to support since I couldn’t find any specific information about this on the company’s website. In a confusing response, the agent implied that the service could be used in China depending on how I set up my VPN connection, without providing further specifics.

Screenshot showing VPN Tracker's response to my query on using it in China

Support did not provide details on setting up the China connection

VPN Tracker does not use obfuscation technology to get around strict internet censorship, so I do not expect it to work. Although third-party apps such as OpenConnect or Cisco AnyConnect can be used to manually configure the VPN, the process may be overly complex. In addition, VPN Tracker has a very small VPN server network, so connecting to a distant server may result in sluggish performance.

ExpressVPN is one of the few VPNs that manages to pass the Great Firewall of China with ease. It features advanced features and technologies that allow you to access your favorite streaming platforms, social media, and websites. Note that the protection of a VPN doesn’t give you a license to commit illegal acts, so please exercise a basic level of caution when using a VPN in China.

User Experience

- 5.0 / 10

Simultaneous Device Connections — Subject to Subscription Plans

The VPN Tracker World Connect solution can be used by just a single user and on a single iOS device or macOS computer. In contrast, the number of simultaneous connections depends on the pricing plan for VPN Tracker Company Connect.

It’s the industry standard to allow 5 device connections, so I would like VPN Tracker to support more devices on the World Connect solution, especially since the subscription fees are so high. VPNs such as CyberGhost allow up to 7 devices to be connected on one license.

Device Compatibility — Apple Users Can Rejoice

The VPN Tracker is primarily designed for people using Apple products. The VPN also supports a variety of other platforms, but there are no apps, so you’ll have to manually configure the VPN on other devices. Unfortunately, its list of supported devices does not include popular mobile platforms like iOS and Android.

You can integrate VPN Tracker with these hardware and software products

This VPN client also supports almost all VPN protocols and routers (IPsec, OpenVPN, L2TP, PPTP, SSTP, Fortinet, Sophos SSL, and Cisco AnyConnect SSL), making it ideal for you if you don’t want to use the dedicated Mac client, iPad app, or iOS app.

Ease of Setup & Installation — Effortless Installation

The VPN setup was quite straightforward with VPN Tracker, and even novice users could set it up quite easily. There is a web-based team management system available to all enterprise-level clients. As part of your subscription, you will also receive simple instructions to assist you with the configuration and management process.

You can add and remove users easily, as well as access a range of information about your VPN server. Statistical information about VPN sessions, CPU, memory, and bandwidth usage is available in the client area of the website.

How to Setup and Install VPN Tracker

  1. Download the app. Visit the VPN Tracker’s website to obtain the app.

Support

- 4.0 / 10

Customer support is offered through tickets, and the response time varies based on your plan. Standard users get priority support, but I found that customer support responds quickly regardless of which plan you have. Support responded promptly and thoroughly to my questions; I was impressed by how friendly and knowledgeable the support was.

There is a section on VPN Tracker’s website that lets you create a support ticket directly, which is a great time-saving feature. Although the site promises 24/7 support, there is no live chat feature or remote phone number, so this is the only way to contact staff.

You should, however, visit the FAQ page first before you ask for something directly and have to wait for a response. VPN providers usually neglect this area, but VPN Tracker’s knowledge base is among the most comprehensive and helpful on the market. You can almost always find a response to your question here, whether your query is general or specific.

It would be great if VPN Tracker’s customer service offered 24/7 live chat and an enthusiastic invitation to ask for help. The best VPNs offer live chat and are quick to reply. It’s important to note that support is not available on weekends. I didn’t receive a response to a query I sent Friday night until Monday morning. Even if VIP users get priority technical support, a ticketing system is not the fastest method of resolving issues with a global client base.

How We Test Customer Support and Why Should You Care

We personally test the customer support team of every VPN we review. This means asking technical question through the live chat feature (where applicable) and measuring the response time for email questions. Whether you need to connect to a specific server, change your security protocol, or configure a VPN on your router, finding a VPN with quality customer support should be important to you.

Final Verdict

VPN Tracker provides small and medium businesses with an easy-to-use but effective means of protecting their networks. VPN Tracker does not have the kill switch functionality found in top-end tools, but it is among the easiest to integrate into existing infrastructure.

If you are an avid gamer and are paying for a VPN primarily to play games, you should consider some other VPN given the high latencies in some parts of the network. The need for 24/7 customer support is another reason to ignore VPN Tracker, at least for now.

The service’s logging policy also worried me quite a bit. Despite not keeping usage or connection logs, it does keep some personally identifiable information. This shouldn’t be an issue for most users, but for those of you seeking stricter logging policies like I do, I suggest you look elsewhere. You may consider a similarly priced product such as ExpressVPN which offers more servers and a stricter logging policy. It also offers a 30-day money-back guarantee, so you can test out the features and benefits for yourself before committing.

FAQs About VPN Tracker

Is VPN Tracker good?

Yes, VPN Tracker is a good choice for both individuals and businesses. You can always be sure that your data is secure since OpenVPN, L2TP, SSL, and IKEv2 protect it in transit, and AES-256 encryptions protect it while static. This VPN is also good if you want something that is easy to use, fast, and allows you to access geo-restricted content.

However, the data logging policy raised concerns. While the front page of VPN Tracker asserts one thing, something else seems to be taking place behind the scenes. The data logs and limited servers will lead heavy VPN users to look elsewhere for something that better suits their needs.

Can I use VPN Tracker for free?

Yes, the Company Connect solution may be tested for a period of 30 days and the World Connect solution for a period of 24 hours. It’s important to grasp the workings of a free VPN if you require it for your online activities. Having knowledge about how providers can provide free services and the compromises you might have to make in terms of functionality and privacy will definitely influence your decision-making process. If you’re looking for a free solution that you can use beyond a limited trial period, you may want to check out these tried and tested free VPN providers.

Is VPN Tracker really safe?

Yes, VPN Tracker is fairly secure since it has some decent security features. It provides a selection of industry-standard protocols with military-grade AES-256 encryption, which makes it extremely flexible. Thorough tests have revealed that the VPN solution does not leak your IP address or DNS information.

However, VPN Tracker has no kill switch function, which means that if your connection to the VPN server is interrupted, your IP address becomes visible to any interested party. Its location in a 14-Eyes Alliance area also means it could be forced to share your information.
