VPNReactor Review 2024: Before You Buy, Is It Worth It?

VPNReactor Overview

“2024 UPDATE! Unfortunately VPNReactor is no longer available. Why not check out our list of the best VPNs in 2024 or find out more about our top recommendation, ExpressVPN.”

VPNReactor is a US-based VPN services provider that claims online anonymity. However, if being situated in the US does not raise enough red flags for you, their privacy policy will.

Their privacy policy states that they maintain user logs for 48 hours and will share them as required by a court order. If you’re a privacy advocate, a journalist, or any other user who takes their privacy seriously, this isn’t the right VPN provider for you.

However, if you want to use a VPN to bypass the restrictions of your university or office, you can try VPNReactor.

From OpenVPN/StealthVPN to PPTP, L2TP-IPSec, SSTP, IKEv2, they provide support for a number of protocols. The SSL encryption varies from 128 to 256-bit, depending on the connection and protocol.

Additionally, they offer simultaneous connections on one desktop and one mobile/handheld device on a single plan. And if you want to connect more devices, you can simply install it on your router. They have detailed instructions for numerous routers (including DD-WRT and Tomato).

They do have a 7-day free trial but only for PayPal users with Max VPN Accounts. Their refund policy states that they will issue refunds that are claimed within 3 days of joining them. And the refunds are at the sole discretion of the company. Which means there is no money back guarantee.

One upside of the VPN is that their list of supported devices is impressive. They offer support for Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, Linux, Chromebook, Blackberry, Xbox, PlayStation3, Smart TV, Windows Phone, and routers.

Another great thing about them is that they accept payments in Bitcoin along with a host of other payment methods. However, they keep track of all your activities, so cryptocurrencies will not keep you hidden here.

Why Most Speed Tests are Pointless & How We Correctly Test VPN Speeds

Speed determines how fast content uploads, so if you're torrenting or streaming, you want the speed to be somewhat identical to your regular internet speed. Since a VPN encrypts your data, it usually takes a bit longer to send your data back and forth, which can slow down your connection. However, if your ISP deliberately slows down your connection (also known as throttling) a VPN might increase your internet speed. Testing a VPN is somewhat pointless because new servers pop up and affect speed. Your speed can also differ according to your location, so your speed test might not match ours. Having said that, we tested the speed in numerous locations to provide you with the average.

User Experience

- 8.4 / 10

If you’re looking for easy-to-install apps, you’ll find them for Mac and Windows. In fact, they have a Windows portable version as well that can be installed on a USB device. However, for all other platforms, you’ll have to configure it manually.

There are helpful guides available on the website, and you can install VPNReactor on iOS, Android, Blackberry, Linux (Ubuntu), Xbox, PlayStation3, Smart TV, Chromebook, Windows Phone, and routers.

You can also use third-party apps for running VPNReactor on your smart devices. For example, you can use the OpenVPN or SSTP VPN client on Android.

The installation takes about 2-10 minutes, depending on the platform. Installation and use are really easy, thanks to the detailed instructions on the website.

How We Test Customer Support and Why Should You Care

We personally test the customer support team of every VPN we review. This means asking technical question through the live chat feature (where applicable) and measuring the response time for email questions. Whether you need to connect to a specific server, change your security protocol, or configure a VPN on your router, finding a VPN with quality customer support should be important to you.
