AceVPN is a US-based VPN service provider that was founded in 2009. Ever since it started, it has been providing its growing number of users with advanced solutions for online privacy, security, and freedom. To give a fair review, we will mention both the advantages and the disadvantages of AceVPN. Starting with the security advantages, AceVPN secures its network with a military grade 256-bit encryption in addition to supporting multiple advance security protocols, including OpenVPN with TCP/UDP, L2TP/IPSec, PPTP, and IKEv2. All its packages comes with a free smart DNS service for the core purpose of unblocking online censorship. There are several other security specs, but these are the main points that makes AceVPN shine. These features are enough to make AceVPN a reliable service but when it comes to practical implementation or the actual performance, here’s where it gets real. Unfortunately, AceVPN has several weak points when it comes to performance. The most commonly recorded issues are the poor connection speeds and the complicating sign up and configuration procedure. If you’re not tech-savvy or seeking a VPN specifically for streaming or P2P sharing, AceVPN may not be the ideal choice for you. However if your main priority is online security and privacy and wouldn’t mind a few speed lags, then AceVPN could be a considerable choice.

To be honest, setting up AceVPN is not one of its strong points. Even the sign up process seems to be a little more complicated than what we usually encounter with VPN providers, especially at the payment section. Once you’re signed up and your account is active, you would need to set up the VPN connection manually on your system which requires following a step-by-step tutorial from the knowledge base in the AceVPN website. From our first look at these tutorials, we thought that not a lot of users might be quite familiar with the terminologies or the process, especially those users who are not very tech-savvy. Sadly, AceVPN doesn’t rate well when it comes to user experience.
