SumRando VPN Review 2025: Before You Buy, Is It Worth It?
SumRando VPN Overview
“2025 UPDATE! Unfortunately, SumRando VPN is no longer available. Why not check out our list of the best VPNs in 2025 or find out more about our top recommendation, ExpressVPN.”
Founded in 2011, SumRando is a security and privacy company located in privacy-friendly island of Mauritius to provide secure VPN, web proxy, messaging as well as storage cloud and file sharing services.
Although the company’s main homepage doesn’t tell us much about their VPN service, their F.A.Q section has plenty of information. It’s important to note that SumRando is intended for personal and individual use only. The company stresses that their VPN service isn’t meant for any commercial or corporate use. Speaking of policies, we aren’t very happy with SumRando’s privacy policy. Though they don’t keep activity logs, the company keeps connection and bandwidth records.
On the plus side, SumRando VPN uses 128-bit OpenVPN for encryption and they manage and run their own servers as well, however, they don’t have a kill switch to prevent any accidental risks. Their servers, though not many and speed is terrible, are well-spread across important locations. There’s also a free plan offered for light use limited to 1GB per month, so keep your eyes on the meter.
The customer support team can be reached by email and they usually respond within 24 hours. I am friendly and well-informed. SumRando, a platform that offers various payment options, including anonymous currencies like Bitcoin, is known for its approachability and expertise.
Speed - 7.5 / 10
Why Most Speed Tests are Pointless & How We Correctly Test VPN Speeds
Speed determines how fast content uploads, so if you're torrenting or streaming, you want the speed to be somewhat identical to your regular internet speed. Since a VPN encrypts your data, it usually takes a bit longer to send your data back and forth, which can slow down your connection. However, if your ISP deliberately slows down your connection (also known as throttling) a VPN might increase your internet speed. Testing a VPN is somewhat pointless because new servers pop up and affect speed. Your speed can also differ according to your location, so your speed test might not match ours. Having said that, we tested the speed in numerous locations to provide you with the average.
Servers - 7.1 / 10
SumRando VPN has 13 servers in 7 countries and 1,500 IP addresses.

User Experience - 8.4 / 10
The SumRando software application for Windows is anything but user-friendly, attractive or intuitive. It’s primarily a small strip that give you colors when you’re connected or disconnected to the service: green for connection and black/yellow for disconnection. As for the rest of the application, it has very limited options and can be slow and lag sometime causing some problems with your systems and browsers which will take more time to load. On the bright side, there’s a kill switch and the application does indeed prevent DNS leakage.
Before you make a final decision, we highly recommend you check out some alternative VPNs which may offer better features and prices.

How We Test Customer Support and Why Should You Care
We personally test the customer support team of every VPN we review. This means asking technical question through the live chat feature (where applicable) and measuring the response time for email questions. Whether you need to connect to a specific server, change your security protocol, or configure a VPN on your router, finding a VPN with quality customer support should be important to you.
Editor's Note: We value our relationship with our readers, and we strive to earn your trust through transparency and integrity. We are in the same ownership group as some of the industry-leading products reviewed on this site: ExpressVPN, Cyberghost, Private Internet Access, and Intego. However, this does not affect our review process, as we adhere to a strict testing methodology.
