VPN Speed Review 2025: Before You Buy, Is It Worth It?
VPN Speed Overview
“2025 UPDATE! Unfortunately VPN Speed is no longer available. Why not check out our list of the best VPNs in 2025 or find out more about our top recommendation, ExpressVPN.”
Editor's Note: Transparency is one of our core values at WizCase, so you should know we are in the same ownership group as ExpressVPN. However, this does not affect our review process, as we adhere to a strict testing methodology.
With more than a million installs from Google Play, it makes sense to consider VPN Speed for your privacy needs. It’s a torrent-friendly Android app that provides a free or premium service, but the free service is only available in three countries: Netherlands, UK and the US.
The free version doesn’t limit your bandwidth or require any registration. If the ads bother you or you want more out of your VPN, you’ll need to upgrade to a paid-for version. This removes the ads and time limits, improves performance and provides access to 21 countries throughout the world.
The company is based in Ukraine, and the VPN does work around some of the hardest geo-blocks from companies such as Netflix, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and Skype. They utilize AES-256 encryption and the IPSec protocol for your security.
There is a seven-day free trial on the paid-for version, which is a great way to temporarily get rid of the ads and remove the one-hour time limit that the free version imposes.
The real problem is that this program is really basic. While it might be great for beginners who don’t know VPNs very well, it doesn’t provide skilled customers with advanced settings. Furthermore, there’s no transparency with this company, and there’s no official privacy policy, so it’s hard to tell what is genuinely getting logged. Of course, signing up anonymously will reduce the risk for most users. Finally, customer support is virtually non-existent, so you’re on your own if you run into trouble.
We can recommend this VPN if you are traveling or at a local Wi-Fi hotspot, but otherwise, it just won’t provide the service or speeds most people are looking for.

Why Most Speed Tests are Pointless & How We Correctly Test VPN Speeds
Speed determines how fast content uploads, so if you're torrenting or streaming, you want the speed to be somewhat identical to your regular internet speed. Since a VPN encrypts your data, it usually takes a bit longer to send your data back and forth, which can slow down your connection. However, if your ISP deliberately slows down your connection (also known as throttling) a VPN might increase your internet speed. Testing a VPN is somewhat pointless because new servers pop up and affect speed. Your speed can also differ according to your location, so your speed test might not match ours. Having said that, we tested the speed in numerous locations to provide you with the average.

Once you have completed the easy installation process, you are presented with a simple interface. All you need to do is choose your location and click the ‘Connect’ button. Within seconds, the VPN provides the protection and security you need to be anonymous online.
The free program bombards you with a lot of ads, which is the main reason users choose to upgrade. You also face disconnection every hour unless you hit the ‘Reset’ button, and the software continues to count down during the hour to remind you that your session is ending.
With the premium version, there are no ads, but users still have access to the same simple software. The paid-for version does also provide many more server locations than the free version, and you stay connected even when you aren’t actively using your device.

How We Test Customer Support and Why Should You Care
We personally test the customer support team of every VPN we review. This means asking technical question through the live chat feature (where applicable) and measuring the response time for email questions. Whether you need to connect to a specific server, change your security protocol, or configure a VPN on your router, finding a VPN with quality customer support should be important to you.
Editor's Note: We value our relationship with our readers, and we strive to earn your trust through transparency and integrity. We are in the same ownership group as some of the industry-leading products reviewed on this site: ExpressVPN, Cyberghost, Private Internet Access, and Intego. However, this does not affect our review process, as we adhere to a strict testing methodology.
