Tunnello Review 2025: Before You Buy, Is It Worth It?

Tunnello Overview

“2025 UPDATE! Unfortunately Tunnello is no longer available. Why not check out our list of the best VPNs in 2025 or find out more about our top recommendation, ExpressVPN.”

Editor's Note: Transparency is one of our core values at WizCase, so you should know we are in the same ownership group as ExpressVPN. However, this does not affect our review process, as we adhere to a strict testing methodology.

Tunnello helps you change your online location and unblock geo-restricted content. There are no bandwidth restrictions, and you can use their services as much as you want.

With 110 servers in 14 countries, they don’t have a large system, but it’s a decent network. Tunnello is available as a Chrome extension.

A combination of VPN and proxy, it offers AES-256 bit encryption with the RSA-4096 key exchange.

Tunnello has two price plans – monthly and yearly. The prices are pretty cheap, and they accept several payment methods including credit cards, PayPal, and Bitcoin.

Tunnello lets you stay safe online, but it only works on Google Chrome. It has no other apps or configuration methods. You can use it on Windows, Mac, and Linux, as long as you have Google Chrome installed on it.

There is a 7-day money back policy that allows you to get a full refund if you’re not satisfied with their services. However, keep in mind that payments made through Bitcoin are not reversible.

Tunnello is based in France, which makes it a secure choice. Most users avoid subscribing to VPNs that are located in the Five Eye countries (US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand) because of their draconian laws.

Why Most Speed Tests are Pointless & How We Correctly Test VPN Speeds

Speed determines how fast content uploads, so if you're torrenting or streaming, you want the speed to be somewhat identical to your regular internet speed. Since a VPN encrypts your data, it usually takes a bit longer to send your data back and forth, which can slow down your connection. However, if your ISP deliberately slows down your connection (also known as throttling) a VPN might increase your internet speed. Testing a VPN is somewhat pointless because new servers pop up and affect speed. Your speed can also differ according to your location, so your speed test might not match ours. Having said that, we tested the speed in numerous locations to provide you with the average.

User Experience

- 8.0 / 10

Tunnello is easy to download and use. They have a Google Chrome extension that can be downloaded from the Google Chrome store. It takes about a minute to install. Using it is simple and doesn’t require any technical knowledge.

While it’s a good solution to your privacy needs, it’s not available on mobile platforms. Their website says that they plan to launch mobile apps soon but so far there is no progress.

The speeds are good, and there is no significant change in speeds after connecting to it. If you want to contact the customer support team, you can open a ticket, and they’ll reply in 24-48 hours.

While the prices are low, the fact that Tunnello is available only as a browser extension might make you look for other options. Several VPN services offer the same prices and can be installed and run simultaneously on several devices.

How We Test Customer Support and Why Should You Care

We personally test the customer support team of every VPN we review. This means asking technical question through the live chat feature (where applicable) and measuring the response time for email questions. Whether you need to connect to a specific server, change your security protocol, or configure a VPN on your router, finding a VPN with quality customer support should be important to you.
