VPN Easy is a simple app that hides you from the ISP and government and lets you surf the web with complete anonymity.
It’s limited to only Android, which is a major drawback. However, since it’s free, who are we to complain?
It offers good speeds and allows P2P, which means you can work on torrents on your phone. While it begins with just 3 servers, you can add more servers once you rate them. Kind of unfair, but once you rate them, you can access servers in 21 countries.
The interface is really simple. It starts with a button in the middle. Click on it, and you’ll be connected to the default server.
It has two protocol options, OpenVPN and IPSec on AES-256. While IPSec offers faster speeds, OpenVPN is more secure. You can choose the protocol you prefer and connect to the VPN.
It lets you tweak some settings such as one-click connect that connects you as soon as you click on the app. There is also an option to connect as soon as the device is booted.
While the app is simple to use, it shows too many ads. And there is no way to escape them because there is no premium version. VPN Easy is truly free and does not ask you to upgrade to a paid plan.
Speed determines how fast content uploads, so if you're torrenting or streaming, you want the speed to be somewhat identical to your regular internet speed. Since a VPN encrypts your data, it usually takes a bit longer to send your data back and forth, which can slow down your connection. However, if your ISP deliberately slows down your connection (also known as throttling) a VPN might increase your internet speed. Testing a VPN is somewhat pointless because new servers pop up and affect speed. Your speed can also differ according to your location, so your speed test might not match ours. Having said that, we tested the speed in numerous locations to provide you with the average.
VPN Easy comes as an Android app and cannot be installed on other platforms. It’s a free VPN that’s ad-supported. The ads pop up every so often, and it gets annoying.
The speeds are decent, but the app disconnects frequently. There is no active customer support, so there is no way to report the issues.
The app is easy to use. Just download and install it from the Google Play Store. Once it’s installed, all you need to do is click on the Connect button.
We personally test the customer support team of every VPN we review. This means asking technical question through the live chat feature (where applicable) and measuring the response time for email questions. Whether you need to connect to a specific server, change your security protocol, or configure a VPN on your router, finding a VPN with quality customer support should be important to you.
