Launched in 2010, IdealVPN is a small provider based in France with only 3 server locations and a set of fair features to casually bypass geo-restrictions. However, we wouldn’t suggest IdealVPN for advanced VPN users due to its limited features and basic encryption. Relying on 128-bit PPTP encryption is démodé (as the French would say), but a couple of frills such as NAT firewall and port forwarding reinforces their service together with unlimited bandwidth, unlimited speed, and support for P2P and torrenting. Their website is available in 43 different languages, so whether you speak French, Hebrew, or even Chinese, you won’t have a problem navigating the site. Connection speeds are reliable and fast, we tested their servers and we weren’t disappointed. If you come across any technical issue (especially during the manual setup process), there’s an email customer support team that responds within 24 hours and an F.A.Q section for self-assistance. There are three price plans available and a 3-day trial given with the semi-annual plan.

IdealVPN doesn’t have native apps for operating systems, so you need to manually set it up to connect. The manual configuration process isn’t rocket science, and – thanks to their setup guides and F.A.Q section – we didn’t face an problem. Nothing stands out with this VPN, it’s all pretty basic.
